Forest Interior tutorial by dpaint
Here is a way to organize the complex information of an interior forest. This will work no matter what your rendering style happens to be. Whether you are an impressionist painter like me or a realist, the basic building blocks for the picture are the same the only difference is how far you want to carry the finish. This photoshop demo is based on a traditional painting I did a while back.
The challenge is to arrange the information to give you the illusion of space where no horizon is apparent. Forest scenes work best when you use clearings to establish a foreground or middle ground to help divide space in the scene. It doesn’t matter if you are painting jungle or alpine forests the abstract qualities of design still apply.
It helps to visualize the anchor points of the composition first. These objects will have the most detail and can be flagged or spotlighted for greater effect. They will give your eye a place to go in the image allowing you to use areas of less detail as counterpoints.
I always start with large areas of color keyed to the average for that mass this helps to unify the shape. I set up the different layers and work between them to balance color value and shape. Once these are established to my liking I begin to develop and refine the painting adding interest as I go.fuckedi fick fuck
I so need to try this*eyegasms*
jesus!
Reblogged for Sai. ;v;

YES I NEED
A friend asked how I do this thing, so I decided to make a tutorial for it! FYI, this is Photoshop CS5. Hope it helps in some way! If there’s anything that completely confuses you, don’t hesitate to ask me. :)
Here is a fullsize version.
(This font’s exclamation point looks too much like an “L,” so I apologize for sounding too excited in my tutorial.)
Semi-realistic Eye tutorial. Hope you guys find it useful ^^. and here’s the step-by-step in GIF:
I just went back through over 900 liked posts and dug out all the art tutorials so i can keep track of them. I guess this might be helpful to some of you guys, so here you go.

Here are the brushes I use! I definitely don’t use them to their full potential so if anyone else tries this out I’ll be excited to see what they can really do, lmao.
I put next to them what I generally use them for.
Crayon 1 just indicates that it’s not the default crayon tool.
And Marker is just an alteration on the default marker tool, it’s not a new one iirc.
Oh! And Brush 4 I got from Marcia.
adding more new brushes I use
Brush 5 will literally pick up the color from where you put your pen down first rather than use the color you have color-dropped, so be careful with that I guess lmao.
I don’t use Sai but here’s for anyone following me who does
Today’s Anatomy Studies!
Oh man so much stuff done, and we worked the whole day! It was very fun, but now I really need to get some sleep. I hope to see the people who visited the stream and what they managed to draw during this LS. I haven’t been drawing so much anatomy lately, so this felt really nice to re-study. I actually spent some extra time to understand the complex construction of the elbow.
And I also did some studies using Hogarth illustrations, I’m usually not a big fan of his books. But when it comes to exaggerating muscles, Hogarth IS the best resource to use!
Some building block references my Life Drawing teacher drew up for us for our Figure Drawing class. Thought I would impart the wisdom.

For Anonymous, who requested more Male Anatomy related things.
There are quite a few male related anatomy items in the Art Resource but the search function is a bit persnickity at the moment. I will try and update this post as I get more references. If you’ve got any that I don’t have here, go…
